The Ring
Watched this movie on halloween night and WOW. I had not seen it, or the american remake before, and absolutely loved it. The story was great, the sound effects and music (while way too loud) were awesome. The twist at the end absolutely got me, but felt good. They really had me feeling for Sadako and the characters up til the end. I'm a little sad I waited so long to actually watch the movie but yes.. I really enjoyed learning about Sadako.
Halloween
Watched this movie a bit before halloween night for the very first time. At first I was super lukewarm on it, thought it was incredibly mid. HOWEVER. It quickly grew on me just kinda how cozy the whole movie was. It was simple, the kills were a lil goofy but overall it really did become a much better movie than my initial impressions. I can definitely see myself watching this every year for the spooky season. Cozy af.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
Marvel movies are the sloppest of slop movies out there, but there is just something about the characters in Guardians that makes me want more and more. Though I really like Vol. 3, even more than the second volume honestly, it still had all the Marvelisms present. Regardless, it was quite a fun watch and I loved learning more about Rockets backstory, even if all the animal cruelty was genuinely hard to watch at some parts. I just felt kinda gross about the whole thing, but that was definitely the intention. It seems like this is the end of this version of the Guardians, while sad is also kind of welcome. Three movies is still a lot but I don't feel like they were played to death! Fun, silly, great music, emotional moments, high recommend from me if you like this kind of slop.
Spiderman No Way Home
Marvel Rivals made me catch up on the Marvel movies I missed, and Spiderman No Way Home was definitely up there. I knew the big reveal about bringing all the previous Spidermen back and I absolutely loved it! Seeing both of them, both of which I quite liked, was such a treat. This version of Spiderman has been absolutely amazing, and it really feels like we've been along for the ride. It is, of course, Marvel slop, and far from perfect but I very much enjoyed it. It does not beat Spiderverse though.. don't think anything can beat that. I think Spiderman is just one of the most relateable of the super heroes and I'll always end up coming back because of that. This movie really made me want to watch the 00s version with Toby though..
Elf
Of cours watched this one on Christmas day, and honestly. I still think it's an extremely cute movie. Far from a perfect movie of course, but it's just so feel good that you can't help but smile. I also totally forgot Zoey Deschanel was the lead actress in this movie. I actually really liked her shorter blonde hair, it was a really unique look for her I thought! These movies are cheesy, but honestly it really made my day. I don't think it's the greatestt movie of all time, Elf has sort of spiraled into capitalist machine that prints money with thousands of weird licensed merch. That part is weird but I guess I get it. There aren't a ton of good christmas movies and this fits the bill. Cannot go wrong with it, as long as the years have not frozen your heart.
X-Men '97
Spurred on still by Marvel Rivals, and my friends love of X-Men I decided to give X-Men '97 a try and wow! I'm super glad I did. It was really incredible, the unique visual look of an older show with modern flourishes in animation was great! The story, though I knew nothing about X-Men going in, was easy enough to follow and even pushed me to seek out more X-Men content, I started reading the comics! I have a thread about it over on Bluesky. These were highly beloved characters from my understanding and to see what they went through was shocking. I also incredibly vibed with the found family aspect of it, that's an easy way to my heart in media. I could go on about X-Men as a concept and what it all stands for but that's been done before. Just know I cannot recommend it enough, very good show.
Venom
Okay, I went into these movies not really knowing what to expect. I like Spiderman and all that but never really took time to get to know Venom. I have to just outright say, I fucking LOVED these movies. The first one here is a little all over the place in terms of its tone, being super serious, silly, etc. It definitely was a bit weaker than the others, however it was still a very fun movie. Venom himself, is extremely fun and cool. Big goopy edgy looking boy is a great thing. The dynamic between Eddie and Venom is just done so well and so much fun. I don't really think any of the Venom movies are fantastic movies, but the most important key word is FUN.
Venom Let There Be Carnage
The second one started to cement it's tone a bit more, leading into more of a darker comedy type beat. The relationship between Venom and Eddie only growing stronger through the movie with their marrie couple-esque vibe is just too good. I just felt happy watching these, despite their flaws. Carnage as a character in this kinda.. sucks to be honest. He's not a great villain, and Shriek also was pretty bland. They just really didn't do anything for me. I did like that Shriek was in it though, showing that there are other characters with abilities in this universe! Which is awesome to think about, even if it isn't really done in this or the next movie. Still, a fun ride.
Venom The Last Dance
Okay the final of the trilogy, was probably the best. They leaned into the comedy way more, and the married couple aspect of Venom and Eddie's relationship. It was hilarious, the action was intense, and the CGI was cheesy as fuck. I did absolutely LOVE seeing the other symbiotes though! I only wish they had a bit more of a spotlight on them. This movie really is a lot of the same as the other two, but done just a little bit better. I adored Tom Hardy as Eddie in these movies and it's sad to see this world go. I think Sony is killing this universe, which is super sad becuase it was such a fun ride. At the very least we got a few movies out of it. Also the tie in with Spider-Man in the MCU was AMAZING. I felt like those memes of the soyjak pointing at the screen when I realized it. It's actually what made me even check these movies out. Super glad I did. If you need shlocky dumb action, Venom is there for you.
